STORYTELLING

This is the 2nd task in Level 3: The storytelling.

Next, I will present my storytelling. As I said in the previous article. This prose fiction wants to be the initial presentation for a ESCAPE CLASSROOM. My desire is to put it into practice in the 3rd term, linked to Saint George Festivity, with kids in the Third Cycle (Primary 5 & 6 together). I hope our current situation improves and  we can finally do it.

After my last awful experience with the tools in the storyboard and having had a look at the proposed tools in the course and even after having tried some of them out, I have decided presenting this STORYTELLING with two different tools: the Chromavid & the iMOVIE apps. The reason why I have done this election is because, in my opinion, the suggested ones are quite limited and if you want to do something more challenging you need to pay. And...sorry but I am not going to do it, using money from my pocket for something related to work.

After reading, the theory, I have learned that before starting to write/create, we must mull over what is next:

I hope you enjoy the way I have enjoyed making it. And...bearing in mind that it's been the first time I do something like this, I am very proud of it.

In the storytelling that you will find in the next link, I have tried to take into account not only the previous points mentioned in the infographics above, but also these 3 parts:

  • The Introduction = We can see where the story takes place (in a small town in the Penedès Area; here is where our pupils live) and who the main characters are (a fierce dragon and the inhabitants of this town: mainly the kids in the Mimes Classroom who live in this town). So this will be really closed to our pupils context.
  • The Plot = where the kids are given an important role to achieve: to save the town from the fierce dragon, who wants to exterminate its inhabitants. And to do this, children will have to become the knights of the future! This will be the two HUGE challenges to overcome. However, to get into them, pupils will have to pass 5 more challenges (the proper games to gamify).
  • The ending = This will be an open-ending, since it will depend on the kids' skills and their teamwork abilities to achieve the 5 challenges mentioned in the video. These will have the hints/clues to become knights and save their town. And depending on their skillfulness, it will be a good or bad ending. NOTE: These hints/challenges are not ready yet, since they are the mechanics I will have to prepare in the next step of this course (level 4). But these will be given to the PRIMARY 5 & 6 KIDS after watching the video below. Well, in fact, they will have to find them out. Step by step!

See you in the next level! Hope so!

STORYBOARD

Once in Level 3, we had to prepare a storyboard related to the storytelling we want to use for the final gamification activity. My experience when doing this draft it hasn't been quite good. I have had plenty of problems. Although I had a clear idea of the prose I wanted to use, I had great difficulties in finding the right ICT tool to express in a visual way what I had in my mind. Firstly, maybe because we are still used to doing drafts using paper. For me, this is still the fastest and easiest way. In this sense, incorporating the ICT tool, it has been a waste of time. Secondly, because I started using some tools, but when you learnt how it worked, you realized that that wasn't the style you were looking for. Thus, you had to move to another tool. And thirdly, once you got the tool you expected, and you had almost finished, then you had to pay for adding extra images or  for adding more than 6 comic strips or even paying for downloading it. And obviously, I am not goin...
